Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("Policy") explains how you may and may not use the HomeWagger platform. It works alongside our Terms & Conditions / Terms of Use, Privacy Notice, and Policies & Governance.

By using the HomeWagger website or app (the "platform"), you agree to follow this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

1. Purpose of this Policy

HomeWagger exists to support welfare-first dog rehoming. This Policy sets clear expectations for behaviour on the platform so that dogs, adopters, rehomers, shelters, and volunteers can participate safely and respectfully.

2. Who this Policy applies to

This Policy applies to everyone using the platform, including adopters, rehomers, shelters, volunteers, and visitors. It covers all activity on the platform, including profiles, listings, messages, reviews, images, and any other content you create or share.

3. General behaviour standards

You must behave in a respectful, lawful, and welfare-first way. In particular, you must:

  • treat other users with courtesy and respect;
  • use clear, honest information when describing dogs or your circumstances;
  • follow relevant animal welfare legislation and guidance for your region;
  • follow any additional safety or welfare instructions provided by HomeWagger.

4. Prohibited content and conduct

You must not use the platform to:

  • sell dogs, advertise litters for sale, or promote commercial breeding;
  • support or enable puppy farming, illegal breeding, or unlicensed trading;
  • post content that is unlawful, fraudulent, misleading, or deliberately incomplete;
  • upload abusive, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, or hateful content;
  • share graphic or distressing content without a clear welfare purpose;
  • impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity or role (e.g. falsely claiming to be a rescue);
  • request or offer dogs for fighting, guarding, status, or any other harmful purpose;
  • encourage unsafe meet-ups or put people or animals at risk;
  • send spam, unsolicited bulk messages, or promotions unrelated to dog welfare;
  • use the platform to advertise unrelated products or services;
  • reverse engineer, hack, or attempt to disrupt the platform or its security;
  • scrape or harvest data without our explicit written permission.

5. Listings and profiles

When creating a profile or listing a dog, you must:

  • provide information that is as accurate and complete as possible;
  • disclose any known health, behavioural, or legal issues relevant to the dog;
  • update or remove listings that are no longer accurate (for example, when a dog has been rehomed);
  • only upload photographs and media that you have the right to use;
  • avoid exaggerating or downplaying key information that may affect welfare or safety.

6. Messaging and communication

Messages and other communications on the platform must be used responsibly. You must not:

  • pressure, guilt-trip, or coerce anyone into a rehoming decision or adoption;
  • share someone else’s personal contact details without their permission;
  • send repeated unwanted messages or attempt to contact someone after they have clearly asked you not to;
  • use messaging to attempt to move transactions to other platforms for selling or breeding purposes.

7. Reporting concerns

If you see behaviour or content that appears to breach this Policy, please report it to us as soon as possible via the reporting tools in the platform or by emailing hello@homewagger.org.uk.

If you believe an animal is at risk of harm, or that a person is in immediate danger, you should also contact the relevant authorities or emergency services.

8. Breaches and enforcement

Where we reasonably believe this Policy or our Terms have been breached, we may take one or more of the following actions:

  • issue a warning or request that you change or remove content;
  • temporarily restrict certain features or visibility of your profile or listings;
  • remove content, pause listings, or suspend your account;
  • permanently close your account in serious or repeated cases;
  • where required, share relevant information with welfare organisations, regulators, or law enforcement.

9. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our services, guidance, or the law. The latest version will always be available on this page.
